Jon Batiste is the band leader for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and for those of us who are fans of his music, we've been waiting for him to get a moment to really shine.

On Wednesday night, he got that moment and he seized it, performing a stunning cover of The Beatles' Blackbird. It had special meaning too, as it was the 52nd anniversary of The Beatles' first performance on American TV, which happened on that very stage at the Ed Sullivan Theater. Shout out Jon Batiste, shout out Kenner, Louisiana (his home town) and shout out to The Beatles. Those guys knew how to write a song.
