Hey Genius, how's it hanging? I'm coming to you at the eleventh hour to get you rainbow high on all the latest and greatest in Genius musical activity!

BROADWAY BID'NESS

  • Hamilton's live #Ham4Ham lottery shows have officially been retired, and the final performance was, appropriately, a showstopper. It was amazing while it lasted, I think we can all agree. And if you're missing that sense of intimate, playful connection with the cast, you should go read Javier Muñoz's feature in GQ where he is looking charming and debonair A F.
  • Elsie Fest is this Monday at Coney Island! Megan Hilty, Tituss Burgess, Lena Hall, Darren Criss, JASON ROBERT BROWN, and other crossover Broadway stars (like the kids from Stranger Things!) will perform!
  • Moulin Rouge is getting a stage musical… sometime… in the future…. The talent looks good, but they don't know where it will open, or even if it's gonna stay a jukebox show or get the original song treatment, so I'm having a hard time believing this is a real thing. That recent story about the fraudulent producer has got me seriously suspicious.

COMMUNITY CENTER STAGE

The musicals community page acquired caught some new eyes this week. Remember, this page is a jumping off point! Let us all know what you're working on and what musicals you love so that everybody knows where we should direct our collective knowledge next.

EXTRA EXTRA: I'm looking for community members to sign up to do some of these In Revue posts! PM me if you're interested! It's a blast! And you be granted the dubious honor of being able to choose your own

SIDE BY SIDE BY GENIUS

This week's feature hails from Something Rotten! and it ranges from Easy all the way up to Expert mode with its countless references to musical theater history. All you really need to know about the show it's a parody musical set in the Elizabethan Era. A character is trying to compete with William Shakespeare's theatrical success and having a hard time with it until Nostradamus comes along and gives him a big ol' splashy hint about what's going to SLAY in the future—namely, you guessed it, the MUSICAL! The song references about 20 hit shows, and makes a bunch of other terrible in-jokes along the way. Give the song and the existing annotations a peep, and see if you can't lend your knowledge to this worthy song page.
