The first two spotlights focused on bands that are pretty heavy, but it's time to scale it back. The Rocket Summer falls in that category of rock that's tons of fun, and has a distinct pop element to it. This band has been around for a while but has always been sorta known — never really blew up. The Rocket Summer isn't technically a band, but I'm including it because it sounds just like a band. It's actually a solo project by singer-songwriter Bryce Avary who writes and produces every song, along with playing every instrument.

Obviously those who are only into rock for its hardcore elements will not like The Rocket Summer, but if you can get into a poppier sound I think you'll enjoy this. It has a quality that's just so "singable" (as a singer, I love this). Try out a few songs!
