What's Poppin' (September 30th - October 6th)

Hello my little kernels, it is time for you to spread your crispy puff and jump into this week's episode of What's Poppin'! Short intro because the chart was BUSY, and I'm about to throw a lot at you. Like so:

Who knew Prokofiev would sound so hot on a party track? Not me! Thread and news post for those who want the knowledge. The song page itself still has some red, but is looking pretty good overall!

Gaga's latest, a strangely compelling country pop ballad, has been making the rounds here, along with the other songs she premiered during her Dive Bar FB Live set. Those extras aren't on the chart yet, but I assume they will be soon. Getting back to "Million Reasons," it has one unaccepted tate, and lots of great stuff, but also a bit of a bias against the more obvious interpretation of the song being about the men in Gaga's life. Might merit a second look this week.

Before posting, @streetlights went through this page and rejected a bunch of sarcastic annotations, so if anyone has some genuine love for this dude (or even some genuine love for legit pop IQ), some preventative tating here would be appreciated. To quote from the bio's current (and inexplicable) proposed edit, "Take a risk!"

This song (ft. Selena Gomez and Tory Lanez) has verified tates and a bio and basically nothing else. Come say hi on the realease thread if you jump up on it.

MY GIRRRRLLLLL. I can't believe we all slept on her EP release!!! Well, "we all" except @Nightospheric, who gets points off for not alerting the rest of us. This is a travesty. Make it up to the world by cleaning up this new single.

Lyrically, this song is 90% samples from "Good Swimma" by Freetown Collective, so if any of our reggae or dancehall users (psst, @JuLion-Kilo) want to come in and school these EDMheads, BY ALL MEANS.

Last but far from least, Solange has TWO songs from her new album on the list, "Mad," and "F.U.B.U." I'm not sure why these two particular songs are in the pop charts, but both songs are awesome and need love, especially "Mad," which still needs a proper song bio. Flex your Knowles knowledge here for maximum pop IQ.

So, have any of these songs made it into your playlists? What's looking good on the pop horizon? Any predictions about what will pop up next week? Let me and the rest of @pop-genius know ITT!
