Re: What’s The Deal With This Pop Life? A Pop Genius State of the Union

This pop thread is v. lit and v. informative, @epaulettes! Thank you for whipping it together. As someone who started working at Genius in June, this catches me up tremendously on the evolution of pop coverage on the site and the level of importance placed on the genre. Glad to be part of the improvement, and major kudos to you and to the community for your contributions and collective knowledge in making this positive shift happen–never ceases to amaze me. Looking forward to @epaulettes' weekly pop updates, as those will influence which mainstream and indie artists to approach for social, editorial and video projects. Teamwork!

To the @pop-genius and @music communities: Always feel free to DM me or @RobMarkman with suggestions for artists. We work in Artist Relations at Genius HQ, focusing on building relationships with artists, labels and managers to increase onsite annotations, interviews for editorial stories/video, social media projects and community engagement.

As @epaulettes mentioned, this week we did a unique lyric premiere on Twitter for pop star Shawn Mendes. ICYMI, over the summer, we've also done some exciting verified annotations/lyrics and projects with (click artist names to see tates/projects): The Chainsmokers, Zara Larsson, OneRepublic, will.i.am, Christina Aguilera, Tr oye Sivan, Banks, Tegan and Sara, Skylar Grey and many more pop acts, big and small. It's only the beginning. We want knowledge on the site from all artists, from the chart-toppers to the next big thing. Let's get it poppin'!

As our pop princess Britney Spears once said, we're "stronger than yesterday!"
