Honesty can be a very good thing for a person to have, but for other people in different scenarios, it can also be the worst. The biggest of which, are the ones that normally boil down to having to choose between honesty and empathy. Sometimes people ask you difficult questions that are personal and although you're sure they value your honest opinion, you also value their feelings, especially if they are someone in your life that you care about.
So coming off of the whole discussion we had yesterday about weight (which I thought went very well btw), let's use this as an example. This is a really cliched example to give for this scenario, but I'm going to give it anyway because I think it works best. Let's say your wife/girlfriend or whatever asks you about their weight, is it better to be honest and tell them what you really think, or empathetic by being cautious of saying something negative that could potentially hurt their feelings or self-esteem?
In other words, the classic "does this dress make me look fat?" scenario. Your thoughts?
