Hey all, and welcome to the new Indie Initiative hosted by @channelYELLOW and me! A while back, channelYELLOW hosted the old Indie Initative which didn't do too well, but now we're back with an all new Indie Initiative redux!
We're here to bring you some of the nicher, lesser known artists and releases so that they can get some more exposure here on Genius. More often than not, the obscurer artists don't get the same love as the big meme artists, and that's to be expected! There's a lot of amazing and interesting music out there, but not many people know about it, so we wanna get these artists out to you guys and give them the awesome Genius tate treatment!
So, for the first week of the Indie Initiative, me and channelYELLOW have selected 4 albums from various genres to listen to, discuss, and annotate over the course of the week. This week's selection iiiiiiiisssss:
Blood Orange – Freetown Sound
BADBADNOTGOOD – IV
Róisín Murphy – Take Her Up To Monto!
The Avalanches – Wildflower
We selected these 4 releases since they're more recent and might be known to some on Genius. They're also from different corners of the music world, so we wanted to give a more varied experience. Whatever kind of music you guys feel comfortable tating, go for it!
As well as you guys, we'll also be putting in some tates. At the end of the week we'll ask how you feel it went, highlight some tates across the 4 albums, and whoever we deem the MVP of the week is gets to pick one of the releases for next week!
