Hey everyone!

We're back for a new Power Hour week and ready to tackle a new initiative~ It's goin' down at 3PM EST. (If you're new here and you're like, "wtf is Power Hour?!" make sure you check out the intro thread from June).

For our first official Power Hour last week, we ripped into thousands of unreviewed annotations and drastically reduced the red — this was a major success we slayed it together. Bless up.

This week, we're lookin' to hit hard into Transcriptions (which was pitched by @Freeus last week, tysm). This initiative is fun, flexible, and majorly collaborative because there are multiple ways in which you can participate, all the while benefiting and helping the goals of the transcribing community! Check it out:

  • First things first, simply transcribing any missing songs is a good place to start. Remember to use proper formatting for the lyrics ([Verse], [Chorus], [Bridge]).
  • Use the 2016 Album Release Calendars as a guide for what's missing on Genius. This is a great tool for Scribe-A-Thon, and it gives everyone an idea of what we have to focus on. Additionally, feel free to look through the annotations and update their corresponding albums and numbers so that we have the most up-to-date information in our calendars. (Speaking of Scribe-A-Thon, check out the French page if you can fill in some missing pieces!)
  • Take a look at some songs that have any [?]'s — check out this thread with loads of question marks to debunk.
  • If you're interested in Screen Genius, there's a place for you, too: check out the Screen Scribes Project to see which TV shows, movies, etc. other members are working on, or find one of your own to start 'scribing!
  • Finally, check out the Requests Thread — here, you can drop in any artist or album that you'd like to see put up on Genius. You can also catch any requested songs that still need to be transcribed.

Here's the page for this week. Add your name, annotate with what you did during the hour, and join us in Editor Chat as we get to fulfilling transcriptions all around the site!
